Town Hall Coffee shows work by local artists. On Friday, December 2nd, there will be an opening for their newest exhibition. I will be the DJ for the event. Mark your calendars!

I will be DJ-ing this Friday night from 7 to 10 at Town Hall Coffee in Merion. It’s at 358 Montgomery Avenue, just a few doors down from the famous Hymie’s Deli.

Craig LaBan of the Philadelphia Inquirer recently included Town Hall in his list of the top 10 coffee houses in the region. Town Hall is the only coffee house in the top 10 located outside center city! Here’s the list.

DJ contest results

I was a finalist in the Croatia DJ contest (see details below). The judge, Chris Coco, marked 6 of the 50 or so entries as “favorites”, including mine. (I think that makes me a “finalist”!) During the 6 weeks of the contest my mix was played 248 times – THANKS to everyone who listened!

However, I was not the winner. The prize went to TJ-Kid, a talented and popular DJ from Barcelona. You can listen to his winning mix here.

The contest was a lot of fun, I was able to connect with interesting and talented DJs from all over the world. So I will probably enter more Mixcloud contests in the future.

Wow, 100 plays in less than a week! THANKS everybody!

This means I am officially entered in the contest. The winner will be announced in late April. In the meantime, feel free to listen (or listen again). Every play counts, even if you’ve listened already, and more plays could help my chances of winning. You don’t have to hear the whole mix to register a play; it looks like about 10 minutes will do it.

Also, if you’ve created a Mixcloud account or if you’re thinking about creating one, please consider a click on the “Favorite” button at the top of the page, just below the play button. The number of favorites may also be a factor in the selection of a winner.

You’ll find that Mixcloud has lots of gadgets for connecting with Facebook, so feel free to play around (and tell all your friends in the process)!

While you’re there, check out some of the other contest entries. All are interesting and very different takes on the idea of music for a sunshine cruise. It’s a truly global bunch – Bulgaria, Mexico, Ireland, Switzerland, Malaysia, France, UK, etc.

At last, a new mix. Click the “Listen” link to the right to go to my Mixcloud page, or go directly to the mix here.

I’d like to get lots and lots of plays for this particular mix! I made it for a DJ contest. If I win, I get to DJ at a festival in Croatia in August! The winner will be chosen by Chris Coco, a British radio and club DJ with impeccable credentials and taste. His decision will be based on the contest mixes posted at Mixcloud.

However, he will only consider DJs whose mixes get 100 plays or more. So please give it a listen!

If you feel like giving Mixcloud your e-mail address, you will also be able to “favorite” the mix and “follow” me. These will also help my chances.

Lots of people will enter, some with considerable DJ experience, so my chances of winning are small. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of putting together a 30-minute mix with a summer festival in mind. I’m very happy with the mix, I hope you like it too!
